Random thought I had when I got to the Utopia Shelter part of this video, I only now realize that unlike all the other Spark games, you’re descending to the depths, rather than ascending. It’s kinda fitting in that.

I'm new to the channel so I haven't seen every video, so I don't know if you covered the game I'm about to suggest, but I appreciate your love for the janky side of things. I'd recommend checking out 7.62 High Calibre, better known as 7.62 Hard Life on Steam.

Despite this games flaws I have to say this is my favourite yakuza game and I would’ve been totally fine with it being kiryu’s last game.

from what i noticed about the game, none of the story in the beginning doesnt make sense. theres major plot holes. when they realize theyre starting their own gang, why arent they worried about consequences, none of the gangs have any backstories that we could know about them, the major issue i have with the game, is the gun physics, the bullets bounce off the enemies like rubber and its really bad. driving physics is semi fun but broken. mission structure is odd, its not easy to follow like sr4 and previous games.

My favourite Yakuza game

Just finished all the remastered versions of the PS3 Yakuza games. While I’ve watched this video multiple times, it gave me a way for me to find my own values and understanding for this game. It was truly great to share these experiences with someone who has so much love and care with this series. I hope that’s not lost on you, and it feels great to finally say I’ve completed Yakuza 5.

What's wild about Indigo prophecy is that it had an insanely good Demo. I mean the demo didn't even represent the game at all. It just had enough interesting things going on to make you say, "Hey, this game could be a banger." Than you actually play the game....

Something worth noting about the whole Old Earth thing now that Extreme Formula has released. Not only does Extreme Formula take place on regular Earth, ONE OF THE TRACKS IS LUNA BASE FROM SPARK 1, THE ONE LEVEL THAT TOOK PLACE ON AN OLD EARTH RUIN. IT'S ALL CONNECTED.

43:59 Snake, I'm glad you enjoy that part so much, but… It wasn't _just_ superstition. Mitch was literally next in command. They establish this when Roosevelt asks who's in charge of "all these warriors" and everyone looks to Mitch. I'm not sure if automatic promotion applies between completely different branches of the military, but I can't imagine what else a mixed unit would do in this situation. So I think Mitch would be considered the new Captain even if the curse thing never came up.

The note about translation is so important to keep in mind when looking for a dub version of something over a subtitled version. A good example in non-game media might just be Patlabor 2, where the English dub -- for all its decent choices in character casting -- just wasn't able to capture the nuance of the long and somber conversations about Japanese domestic and foreign policy, and in its place the translators just kind of settled for continuing the pure police procedural and comedy elements of the show and preceding movie. It isn't a **bad job** but it's not the same story and it's made it harder to recommend the movie to folks who don't have the attention span for a movie that's entirely in Japanese aside from one scene featuring air controllers.

There is a method to Rico Reyes, indeed, there's a sensible tactics to his lunacy: He wants to become Big Boss! Palinero his Outer Heaven, a mercenary purgatory-paradise which exports war permanently. Instead of stoking the fires of a conflict that will definitely most likely end, why not become the sovereign of a nation dedicated to the expansion, financialization and export of war? This is only natural! Rico Reyes was the smartest bastard of them all in the end. The one playing the lunatic game of capitalism most effectively, to it's highest degree, that is, imperialism. Rico was not in the smuggling business, he was in the empire building business.

As a complete leftie who constantly overshoots with the right stick much like shown here in the video (and yes, I don't play shooters as a result, unless they have gyro), I've often wondered how righthanded people deal with it (or even more extreme, how they deal with moving the left stick). The portion of the video detailing how bad the C-stick aiming is gave me an indirect glimpse at the answer, I think. Not something I was expecting, but fun nonetheless.

so, brief lore thing: rick hunter isn’t voicing the dude, rather, he’s voicing a demon that has possessed the dude, with his pain sfx being in a different voice (the ones for being on fire are from vince desi himself). the loading screen rambles that not important based his entire personality off of are from the demon’s perspective, while the diary/war journal entries on hard mode are from dude (sr.) himself. postal 1 dude later appears in postal 4 as the final boss, while the demon appears in paradise lost and brain damaged, via the “other/alternate dude”

I think that the reason people think Alex is a self insert is that so much of the design of this game FEELS like what Alex would create if he were to create a video game. Also what a miserable understanding of the human connection to art, to act as though we only engage with stories to SELFISHLY and unreflectively affirm ourselves with them. Books and stories have pushed me to be more aware of other people and myself, not less! And I don’t think people destroy art by engaging with it, in fact it’s sort of the opposite…. Argh I cannot overstate how wrong this man is about artists

I only played the successor of this game, 7,62 High Calibre and his stand alone mod Hard Life. It is such a shame that nobody makes a modern game with the same systems these games have. Despite the jank, these games are truly amazing.

Those 2 Seconds of "Urban Reign" gameplay right in the beginning (0:28) is probably the first time i have seen that game referenced in any sort of way outside that one friend i had in school 15 years ago or so that i played it with for hours on end as a pirated copy on his ps2. Such an underrated/lesser known gem of a brawling game!

Was just looking for funny white noise but ya know after hearing alot of this game my only thought is i honestly hope the developer tries again. There're ALOT of lessons to be learned but hey that means all the more improvement is possible. I also think he definitely needs someone else's hand on the wheel to reign it back in before it gets too... YIIKy haha Well, one can hope! One must!

The hundreds of guns thing reminds me of the popular Stalker mods where they all have way too many guns. But at least here sounds like they're there for a reason and not just to have every ak and their bastard offspring in the game haha In fact this whole thing makes me think of those popular overhaul mods, which it kind of is but actually got funding and produced. I'm pretty sure taking the popularity of milsims like arma getting something like this made again wouldn't be a problem. Especially if you make it co-op, with multiple people controlling a separate merc or something

After all the out of touch decisions RGG/Sega made for Gaiden and especially IW, I can say one thing that this game embodies the "end of dreams" theme in the most cynical way possible especially after ending on such a positive hype note that is 5, and recalling the glory days of the past that is 0. This is most blatant when the foreign mafia starts to take over businesses in Kamurocho thanks to Tojo's own incompetence. Even when things started to get "better" in 7 and 8, it comes at a terrible cost...

If you do see and reply to this, what is the worst game you ever played?

I love how much mileage the game gets out of the word "Survivor" in terms of exp. You get those points from helping other survivors, securing supplies for the main group of survivors, doing main story missions (which I guess involve talking to survivors), and by...surviving.

I started playing the yakuza games a little while ago after watching the start of money game. I heard you talking about how yakuza 0 changed your mind on prequels entirely and as a massive prequel > sequel truther (not in the annoying Star Wars fan way, just in the actual format) I wanted to play the series in release order. Your videos have been a great companion piece to my play through and I highly appreciate it! I can’t thank you enough for being what prompted me to play the games especially in release order instead of chronological order. I cant wait to watch you talk about 6 when I finish it :)
